Summary: The annual European Day of Persons with Disabilities Conference which was held in Brussels on the 4th and 5th of December 2017 fulfilled once again its unique role as a major event for highlighting the challenges faced by persons with disabilities, and exploring how these can be solved. Against a backdrop in Europe of rapid social change and political uncertainty, this year’s conference was an opportunity to discuss the impact of major European Union policy developments affecting the rights of persons with disabilities, and in particular the rights to full inclusion and participation in political and public life.
