comment The establishment of educational outcomes for children with disabilities is essentially about creating a vision and philosophy which supports each child's natural abilities. Appropriate early childhood educational supports will ensure successful outcomes for students with disabilities. I well recall being a child with a physical disability label that told the world, and myself, that "you are different." Preschool children are made aware of expectations early on, such as tying shoes, dressing, skipping, running, etc. These, in tum, become standards by which the educational system determines appropriate outcomes. Unfortunately the system has been remiss in recognizing the need to adapt and modify outcomes for students with disabilities.

This does not mean that they are not expected to succeed ... it means that it is the responsibility of the educators and parents to identify how a student can achieve an outcome, possibly in a different way.
